Interesting take what seems to be in society and spending habits. It use to be things that you financed or payed monthly for were large purchases, large being a car, house, and other items that cost thousands of dollars or more. With most everything being instantaneously available whenever and wherever we want, the market needs to adapt so that these larger purchases now (items in the $200-$1,000 range) need to be purchased with payment plans. Additionally, it seems as if most Americans are living paycheck to paycheck which in order for companies to move products have to allow consumers to purchase without having the upfront capital since having rainy day funds are near existent.
Also, I expect Sony and Nintendo to follow suite in the next 12 months if this becomes a hit with Microsoft, which it will.
